La Aroma de Cuba.

The La Aroma de Cuba name traces back to a Cuban brand sold on the streets of Havana from the late 1800s into the early 1900s. Winston Churchill is documented to have named La Aroma de Cuba among his preferred cigars during that era. The original brand fell out of production after the Cuban Revolution.

In the 1990s, the Levin family — owners of the Ashton brand — acquired and registered the La Aroma de Cuba trademarks. They officially launched a Honduran-made La Aroma de Cuba in 2002, designed to satisfy growing American demand for medium-to-full-bodied cigars. By the mid-2000s, the Levins decided to transfer production from Honduras to Nicaragua, partnering with rising cigar maker José "Pepin" García after the successful debut of another brand he produced for them: San Cristóbal.

In 2008, the first Nicaraguan-made La Aroma de Cuba cigars blended by Pepin García debuted. The brand has remained under the Levin/Ashton ownership umbrella since. La Aroma de Cuba is currently blended and produced by Pepin García and his son Jaime García at the My Father Cigars factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. The Mi Amor line in particular — using Mexican San Andrés Maduro wrappers — earned strong critical reception, with the Mi Amor Belicoso receiving a 95-point rating from Cigar Aficionado.
